Well hello Visitor.

I suppose in my first post of my new blog I should properly introduce myself. My name is Rene I live in Munich Germany at the moment and I am 19 years old. I have finished my school in the Summer of 2016. I will begin with my economics studies at the University of Bayreuth beginning in April. At the moment I do various jobs and internships and I also started this blog.

okay let’s be real. Let’s address the elephant in the room. If you already know me through Twitter then you also know that I’m an atheist and an outspoken one at that. I have tinkered with the thought of starting a Blog for a long time now and today I finally decided to do it so i could get my perspective on things out there for everybody to see, so people know where I stand on the various topics that often get discussed between atheists and theists.

While I won’t be able to write down my perspective on the various arguments for and against Christianity, Islam, deism and atheism in this post alone, I want to start this thing off by answering one important question that gets brought up all the time by Theists. This Question is of course the following:

“Why? Why do you talk about God all the time, when you don’t even believe in him?”a variation of this question would of course be “Why do you atheists hate God?”

Many atheists will give different answers but traditionally my answer amounts to the fact that I think religion especially fundamentalist religion is inherently harmful.

Religion has impact in many aspects of our lives. Be it that it undermines science by trying to push creationism or “Intelligent Design” in the classrooms, be it climate change denial, be it the haltering of stem cell research.

While I am a heterosexual male I of course also fight for my homosexual brothers and sisters who have to put up with the fact that homosexuality is still illegal in over 70 countries.

I could name a dozen more examples but I think that the point is made.

Now of course I almost never interact with the people of my own country online. The reason for this is simply that while creationism may be more of an issue in my country than I myself realized, I do think curing the most powerful and influential country of its diseases is more important than the miniscule problems I face in mine. When you cut off the head of the Dragon the body will fall. America is the head, America’s status on various issues is problematic, so that’s where I am attacking.

I also have fun debating people so that is of course another bonus for me ; )

So that is me.

Goodbye from yours truly,

Rene von Boenninghausen @Renevelation
